Artist Statement
I am interested in imagery that refers to natural forms and the energy that creates them. I am also interested in the formal and conceptual relationships with more geometric and manmade forms. In the combination of these ideas my work oscillates between representation and abstraction. The themes of \‘growth\’ and \‘balance\’ figure prominently in my current work.
Artist Bio
Lynda Shalagan grew up in Vancouver, B.C.and attended high school in Kelowna, B.C. In the late 70\‘s she began taking craft and fine art courses at Capilano College in North Vancouver and subsequently tranfered to the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design where she completed her BFA in 1982 with a major in painting. Teaching and attending to her son were a focus until the early 90\‘s when she became more serious about her painting. At the present, Lynda teaches art 50% at the Sacred Heart School in Halifax, co-publishes the Halifax Art Map and continues her work in painting exhibiting locally and nationally.
